CLO FOUNDATION TAKES HOPE AND SUPPORT TO INMATES OF KADUNA STATE CORRECTIONAL CENTRE

Kaduna, Nigeria – In a powerful show of compassion and advocacy, Clo Foundation has brought hope, encouragement, and practical support to inmates at the Kaduna State Correctional Centre through its project tagged Love Beyond Bars.

The initiative, held on May 3, 2025, focused on promoting human dignity, rehabilitation, and the reintegration of inmates into society. The outreach featured motivational talks, counseling sessions, and the distribution of essential items such as Bibles, toiletries, clothing, food supplies, and a cash donation.

Founder and Visionary of Clo Foundation, Amb. Queen Chioma Lynda Onwuka, delivered an inspiring message centered on Anger Management and Self-Awareness, urging inmates to see themselves as tools for positive change despite their present confinement. Addressing the media after the event, she stressed the importance of public perception, reminding society to view inmates not as outcasts but as individuals deserving of second chances.

“It was a rollercoaster of emotions; I cried, laughed, danced, sang, and had fun. I believe that every human being has the capacity to change, grow, and contribute positively to society if given the right support. Love Beyond Bars is our way of breaking the stigma, extending our warm embrace, spending quality time, and advocating for fair treatment and rehabilitation,” she said.

The program created space for interaction, reflection, and even moments of joy, including a dance competition among inmates that highlighted the human side often overlooked behind prison walls. Several inmates also shared moving testimonies of how external support and encouragement had rekindled their hope and strengthened their resolve for personal transformation.

Notably, shortly after the visit, only two inmates were granted release. (A Male and a female) A prison chaplain official, speaking on behalf of the facility, praised the effort:

“This is more than charity; it is advocacy in action. Such interventions help our inmates prepare for a productive life after their release.”

Beyond its immediate impact, Love Beyond Bars reflects a broader global call for justice, inclusion, and equality. By advocating dignity and second chances, the project speaks directly to reducing inequalities and strengthening peace and justice within society. It also promotes emotional healing and mental well-being, showing how grassroots interventions can resonate with universal goals of human rights and sustainable development.

Love Beyond Bars remains part of Clo Foundation’s humanitarian mandate to support marginalized and vulnerable groups across Nigeria. The foundation has pledged to continue collaborating with rehabilitation officers and correctional institutions to strengthen empowerment programs and sustain reintegration efforts in Kaduna and beyond.
