CLO FOUNDATION LAUNCHES ‘OPERATION PICK A BIN’ IN ONDO STATE TO PROMOTE CLEANER COMMUNITIES

In a drive to promote environmental cleanliness and public health, Clo Foundation has taken its sanitation campaign, “Operation Pick A Bin”. Led by the organizational Head of Missions, Mr. Michael Legend Babalola — an illustrious son of Ondo State — the project sensitized residents on the importance of proper waste disposal and environmental responsibility.

The project, held on the 12th of July, 2025, brought together community youths and local market owners for an intensive advocacy and cleanup exercise. The foundation distributed waste bins and cleaning tools to strategic locations within the market and encouraged residents to adopt a “pick a bin” culture as part of their daily routine.

The Founder and Visionary of Clo Foundation, Amb. Queen Chioma Lynda Onwuka, ably represented by another illustrious son of Ondo State, Mr. Samuel Abidemi Akinboboye, explained that the initiative seeks to tackle the growing problem of indiscriminate waste dumping, which poses health risks and degrades the environment.

“A clean environment is a healthy environment. Through Operation Pick A Bin, we are inspiring communities to take ownership of their surroundings, reduce pollution, and protect public health,” he said, noting that the project also aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on Good Health and Well-being, Clean Water and Sanitation, Sustainable Cities and Communities, as well as Climate Action.

Activities during the outreach included environmental awareness talks, practical demonstrations on waste sorting, and the distribution of educational leaflets on proper waste management. Volunteers and community members joined hands in a symbolic cleanup exercise, clearing litter from public spaces and marketplaces.

Speaking with one of Ondo’s Pride, Her Royal Highness, Princess Kemi Fadojutimi, who lauded the effort:

“This project aligns with our mission to keep Ondo clean and safe. We commend Clo Foundation for taking proactive steps to address waste management challenges.”

Operation Pick A Bin is part of Clo Foundation’s broader environmental and public health advocacy, which aims to extend the initiative to more states across Nigeria, fostering a culture of cleanliness and responsibility among citizens.
